In the presentation the optimization of dental implant fatigue is discussed. The optimization methodology based on a genetic algorithm hybridized with Hooke Jeeves technique was used to improve the fatigue life of two-component dental implant. The optimization was carried out with the use of the 3D finite element analysis based on axisymmetric model using alternative displacements interpolation based on trigonometric functions along the circumferential direction and a regular isoparametric interpolation in the radial or cross-sectional plane. The presentation is focused on the verification based on numerical and experimental procedures.

The goal of this study was verification of the assumed representative load case scenario, optimality of the obtained screw preload as well as effectiveness of proposed optimization strategy. Two independent verification methods are used: numerical and experimental tests. Numerical analyses are expected to verify the assumption on the worst load case and the optimality of a screw preload while experimental tests are expected to provide the general verification of the proposed optimization procedure as well as computational model. Due to the methodology used for experimental verification only qualitative effects of the optimization are evaluated.
